Loon Lake Retirement Living

This development is designed to support aging-in-place. Comprised of two buildings, each building accommodates specific opportunities for a variety of resident needs as their lifestyles evolve over time. They collectively share an unparalleled offering of amenities. Building A is a 8-storey apartment complex with a 5,500 square foot commercial space that is intended to provide pharmacy and medical services for both residents and the public. The site’s natural topography is integrated into the design with 2 levels of underground parking that become exposed at the rear, or lakeside. Rather than a 2-storey high blank wall, we imagined an opportunity to create unique 2-level townhouse-style units with direct access to an outdoor patio from which residents can further access the nearby walking trail.

Shared indoor amenity spaces look onto the outdoor patio and courtyards - and include bistro, games room, fitness room, yoga studio,indoor pool, library, hobby kitchen and horticultural room. The patio will have views and provide access towards the lake and walking trail. This is a unique and innovative approach to centralizing both indoor and outdoor amenities that will encourage healthy lifestyles. Each building will have two large courtyards located between each of the wings. Courtyards will offer outdoor dining, community bbqs and raised planters where residents can take part in growing herbs and vegetables as yet another opportunity to nurture health and wellness.
